Why did the 2002 USA World Championship basketball team lose and win bronze?

No stand-out players that dominate games today. Baron Davis, Paul Pierce, and maybe Elton Brand, were the only players good enough to play in today's olympics. So, if they had decent or mediocre players, we should be happy we got the Bronze looking back.
